Our Why
How we started
Breighanna Vigor, our founder and creator, started Stopping Traffick with one thing in mind- Awareness.
Little did she know, it would flourish into something much bigger than that.
Breighanna was almost trafficked in middle school after being contacted by an online predator.
Her communications with the individual lasted for 3 years due to the threats to her family and her being sexually exploited via the Internet.
Her parents had no idea that this grotesque act was happening in their home.
The home that they thought was safe. Never had they imagined that their youngest daughter had to endure these horrors in the late hours of the night, continuously.
After being spiritually led to Breighanna’s bedroom one night, her mother, Cricket, was faced with what had been happening.
Shocked, broken and anger were a few feelings that overcame her that night.
After gathering evidence, the family decided to come forward to local law enforcement.
The outcome was not what they had hoped. The local officer told them all that there was “nothing they could do” and that the “case would go nowhere”.
Though it was not the expected answer they had in mind- her parents would not take no for an answer.
They reached out to the local FBI office and the agents immediately realized the seriousness of the case.
The local agents took matters into their own hands and worked tirelessly, sending her file to 3 different cities, one being out of the country.
The individual was never prosecuted due to the family switching phone companies days before finding out and the old phone being discarded.
The family believes one day justice will be served.
How it's going
Breighanna’s story is not one of shame or grief. Instead, she decided to use it for the greater good. She knows that this is the path she is supposed to be on and where God has led her. Since speaking out, she has always stated,
"If my story can help save the life of just one person- then in my eyes it was all worth it"
Since then, she has done just that. Breighanna continues to make a difference in her community and throughout her state and she does not plan to quit anytime soon. Through Stopping Traffick, she can strive to make a greater change, making the world a safer and better place.
