Stopping Traffick began when our founder, Breighanna Vigor, decided that what happened to her would never again happen quietly to someone else. Watch her tell it in her own words.
Breighanna started Stopping Traffick with one thing in mind: awareness. She had no idea it would grow into something much bigger.
In middle school, Breighanna was contacted online by a predator and very nearly trafficked. The contact went on for three years. He threatened her family, and she was sexually exploited over the internet, night after night, in the late hours when the house was quiet.
Her parents had no idea it was happening under their roof. This was the home they thought was safe. They never imagined their youngest daughter was enduring this, continuously, in her own bedroom.
One night, her mother Cricket felt spiritually led to Breighanna's room. What she found there changed everything. Shocked, broken and angry, the family gathered evidence and went to local law enforcement.
The answer was not what they hoped for. The local officer told them there was “nothing they could do” and that the “case would go nowhere.” Her parents would not take no for an answer.
They reached out to the local FBI office, where agents immediately recognized how serious the case was. They worked tirelessly, sending Breighanna's file to three different cities, one of them outside the country.
The man was never prosecuted. Days before the family discovered what was happening, they had switched phone companies, and the old phone, with its evidence, had been thrown away. The family still believes that one day justice will be served.

Breighanna's story is not one of shame or grief. She chose to use it for the greater good, and she believes this is the path God has led her to.
Since speaking out, she has done exactly what she promised. She speaks in schools and communities across Alabama, sits down with lawmakers, trains volunteers and ambassadors, and keeps pushing so that no other family is told their case is going nowhere. Through Stopping Traffick, one girl's story is making the world a safer place.
